Live Christ Inspired, Run Grace Empowered!

fire heart

Another week just went by, and we are at the end of the month. A pile of tasks completed, and another ocean awaits. So much to do and so little time! For my workaholic friends (including me, to some extent), it is not uncommon to feel frustrated with our limitations. It’s like I wish, almost every other day, that we could have 48 hours instead of 24- but I know that wouldn’t have made much difference.

Never-ending work is a distraction from the primary calling of any human being, that is, fellowship with God. When I remember the darkest days of my life, I recall being lost as a ship on a stormy sea, unable to hear His voice, although He never left me.

It’s time to pause and ponder- where did we reach this week? I love weekends, especially Saturdays that are welcome breaks from the never-ending hustle of life. Sabbath was, in fact, ordained by God for humans to rest[1].

Yes, we need to lead active, purpose-filled lives, but without burning out.

Christ-Inspired, Not Blood Perspired

There is a supernatural strength that comes over us when we operate in the will of God. It’s called the ‘grace’ of God. The grace of God is undeserved, unmerited favor that empowers you to be and do things that are humanly impossible. Our flesh has weaknesses, but His Spirit has none, and when we are led by His Spirit, flowing in His grace, even the most overwhelming tasks become child’s play.

Not because of our wisdom or strength, but because of His grace.

When you are placed in roles of authority and responsibility that are bigger than your qualifications, remember, it’s not your strength or wisdom that got you there. He promoted you, and He will strengthen you with His unmerited favor to do His will wherever you are placed.

Your mind will be at rest, your strength will be renewed every time you remember your Creator who is working in you and through you to do His perfect will[2]. Living a spirit-led life is the most-fulfilling life one could ever live. Not because you won’t have troubles, but because you know where to find your strength even amidst the storms- in Him.

Burn for His Glory, Not Your Own

Just like Rengoku, the flame Hashira puts it, “regardless of how devastated you are by your own weakness or uselessness, set your heart ablaze” – You, child of God, burn up for Christ!

The world needs workaholics- who are addicted to Christ (if that’s the right term). Indeed time is short[3], and a lot has to be accomplished, but not all of it can be achieved in our own strength or wisdom.

There are entire nations oppressed with poverty, prostitution, and plagues, and we can’t be complacent and think it is their problem. Anything wrong with humanity is our problem, and we need to address it while there is still time.

But if we are lost in our limitations, we won’t ever exceed them in the first place. Little as you may seem, as a child of God, you have His spirit inside of you, and that’s the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead[4]. When you have doubts and regrets plaguing your mind, self-condemnation, and thoughts of worthlessness, remember what Christ has done for you.

And now, He is calling you to do the same for the rest of the world, in His strength. For as He is, so are we in this world[5].

So, no matter what it takes, set your heart ablaze,

Do all that He has called you to do, by His grace!
