Abba is a covenant-keeping God. Like any parent, He wants the best for us His children. He didn’t even spare His own son, Jesus Christ, when it came to saving us from eternal death. Yet, there are times when things seem to be working out slowly. We make career plans, family plans, 5 year plans, 10 year plans …only to realize later that things didn’t turn out the way we expected them to be.
Sure, there are people with trajectories set out for decades and they do go from ticking off one milestone to another. But looking back from the peak, most of them often realize that success wasn’t sweet. Some lose their health in the stride, others lose their families.
But what can compare to the cost of a soul lost to gain the world?
“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” – Mark 8:36
It is in moments like these when our heart cries (sometimes loudly and often in silence), “Why, God, why?”
And all we hear as the response is silence. Thick, pervading silence.
Trusting That God’s Timing Is Perfect
One would like to think of God as a puppeteer, who pulls the strings any which way.
But we who know Him as our father, know His heart for us. His plans for us are always of peace and prosperity.
In fact, everything in His universe revolves around us, the apple of His eyes (Psalm 17:8) bought at a very dear price (1 Corinthians 6:20) — the blood of His only beloved Son.
Our Abba is never late.
As we transition from one season to another, at times at a snail’s pace, only one thing should be remembered — God’s timing is perfect. He who began a good work in us is painstakingly drawing and re-drawing our characters till they align with His vision and purpose for our lives.

Why We Can Trust in His Timing
But what about our vision? What about our desires? Don’t they matter?
They do! And believe me, nobody cares for them more than Abba who has counted the very hairs of our head.
“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” – Luke 12:7
He cares so deeply for us that He wouldn’t let us have anything but the best. Our part is to desire His best for us, which is incomparable and irreplaceable.
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” – Psalm 37:4
The all-knowing, almighty, El Shaddai knows our end before our beginnings and when we trust Him and allow Him to teach us the way to go (Isaiah 48:17), He leads us through paths of peace and prosperity (Psalm 16:11).

Those who are rooted and planted in Him will never run dry, will never know lack.
Even when the world goes through spiritual famines and economic droughts, His people will be well provided for (Psalm 37:19). For He is a strong tower, a refuge for those who call on His name (Proverbs 18:10).
He is the light of His people, setting them apart in a world driven by lust and pride. And as we abide in Him, we will bear much fruit, even in our old age.
That is His promise, and He will never change (Hebrews 13:8) — Hold on, even for a little long for God’s timing is perfect.
