2020- the year the world was covered with darkness, I discovered new light. History will never forget 2020, the year that unleashed the deadly Corona on Earth.
That same year, in the month of January, long before the first wave resulted in lockdowns, I found myself at the gates of Spirit of Faith Bible School, Nagaland, Dimapur.
3 years later, I can still testify to the wonders it did for my life, turning me 180 degrees to take me where I stand today.
Sure enough, life’s not been a garden of roses and yet, I have had a billion little miracles on the way, propelling me further and further towards God’s faithful promises.
So, if you are wondering whether you should go to Bible School next year, here are some reasons why you should!
3 Reasons to Go to Bible School in 2024
Seek First the Kingdom
When I joined Spirit of Faith Bible School, my life was at its chaotic best.
Years of abuse, academic struggle, and intense peer pressure that was further inflated by my being a woman (the not-so-desirable gender in a country like ours) had pushed me into a tight spot.
I was 25, unemployed, single, and struggling. And the worst part was, I still didn’t know what to do! I knew I was broken but I didn’t know how to fix it.
Until I found Jesus (yeah, and I can confess that to my very last breath).
2018, my friend Flora went to Bible school, and looking at her life and testimony, I knew before I could set my life straight, I had to seek the One who alone could fix it.
I remember how my dad and mom wept on the eve of my 25th birthday (16th January 2020). I was leaving for bible school the next day and they didn’t know what to expect.
Would I never come back? Will I never amount to anything? Their tears held a thousand questions and yet I had purposed in my heart, to seek God first.
And that’s what I did, and I am glad I did it.
I sought Him and He answered me and the rest is becoming history! Only when you know Him can you know your true purpose and fulfill it, empowered by His grace.
Join the Kingdom Family
I made “n” number of brothers and sisters at the Bible school who only inspired me to run my race in Christ with greater fervor and zeal.
The best part was believing with them for the most impossible things that only showed how great is our God!
Our classes were shut down midway due to the lockdown and half of us (the ones from Nagaland) were sent home. And yet, we who came from outside the state, prayed and interceeded in our dormitories, spending time in the word of God.
That relationship has flourished even to this day!
Our classes were resumed after about 2-3 weeks and despite the pandemic, we kept growing in our fellowship and knowledge of Christ.
You need kingdom friends who would stand with you through it all, friends who will believe with you till heaven comes down on earth!
Consider this: if faith the size of a mustard seed could move a mountain (Matthew 17:20), how much more will be moved if multiple mustard-seed-sized faiths come together?
Hallelujah!
Claim Your Victory in Christ!
This year, Spirit of Faith had their annual conference from the 15th to the 19th of November, 2023.
The theme of the conference was “Triumph”1.
I was born and brought up in a Christian household. We went to church every Sunday and observed all the days and feasts, and yet something was missing.
It was not until I discovered my identity in Christ and got a fresh revelation of His finished work on the cross that I was able to lay claims on what was rightfully mine!
In Christ, all our battles have already been won.
Sin, sickness, depression, lack, poverty, and not even death have any claim on a child of God! (1 Corinthians 15:55-58)
Hallelujah!
You can be a “Christian” all your life and yet live defeated, as long as you are unaware of what you have “in Christ“.
And that is one great reason to go to bible school. To know and claim what Christ has done for you!
But Can’t I Study the Bible at Home?
Sure the scriptures can speak to you even in the comfort of your home, but when anointed teachers and pastors from around the world lead you in the inspired word of God, the results are significantly different.
If you are lost and confused, uncertain of your identity in Christ, or want to know Him more, this is your chance to turn your life downside up.
I will never forget what my friend Flora wrote on a sticky note as I was leaving for bible school:
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.” (Matthew 5:6)
May your hunger be satisfied in nothing less than His love as you seek His kingdom and righteousness, above all. Let His light shine on your darkness today! (Isaiah 60:1)
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen!
