In my previous blog on the central theme of the book of Job, I noted how it was divinely sandwiched between 2 books on grace (Esther and Psalms).

But what I didn’t notice then was how Job’s double blessing at the end of the book wove right into Psalm 1 where we read about the blessed man!

Reflect on these verses:

Job 42:5

I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eyes see you.

Psalm 1:1-2 Blessed is the man… his delight is in the law of the Lord and in His law he meditates day and night.

Now compare this to the story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus.

Luke 24:13

“But their eyes were restrained and they didn’t know Him.”

Now go back to Job 42:12 “Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning…”

And then, Psalm 1:3

He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water… whatever he does shall prosper.

Now retrace your steps to Joshua 1:8-9 ” This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth… meditate on it day and night…then you will have good success .”

Is your head already swirling? Worry not- just remember one word: MEDITATE

Why Did God Give Job Double for the Trouble?

Job’s double blessing was directly related to his renewed perception of God as he “meditated” on the wonders of His creation in Job 38-41.

Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, Job couldn’t sense God’s presence until He spoke. ( note how the situation is similar to how Jesus expounded the word to the disciples on Emmaus road in Luke 24:27)

And the result?

The disciples who were initially depressed returned to Jerusalem that very hour and told the 11 disciples that the Lord had risen!

And Job, well, there was not a single area where he wasn’t doubly blessed!

There is so much life, so much goodness, and so much love in our Father’s presence that sickness, death, and poverty can’t survive!

His Word is the key to “good success”. We turn the key by meditating on it.

meditate on His word Joshua 1:8

Does Job’s Double Blessing Include Material Prosperity?

I believe yes. How can I be so sure?

Read what the Bible says: “And whatever he does shall prosper” (Psalm 1:3)

What could come in whatever?

ANYTHING we need to expand His kingdom and influence on earth as in heaven! And that includes tangible, material resources.

Job’s double blessing became a testimony to the goodness of God not only amongst his immediate friends and families but also among generations to come.

It was, therefore, by no accident that the last chapter of Job and his double restoration was placed right before Psalm 1.

Let us read, meditate, and draw continuously from the living water, Yeshua Hamashiach so that we bring forth fruit in the right season, an eternal fruit that will feed and nourish not just us but all posterity.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen❤‍🔥
