For many, including me, success used to mean a particular location. I remember struggling to get out of Patna, thanks to well-meaning friends and family who kept saying, “Patna me kya rkha hai?” (What’s the use of being in Patna?).
No offense, but perhaps it’s instilled in us that anything to do with success has to be done ‘abroad.’ There are several reasons that drive our students abroad– lack of job opportunities being the primary one. But my question today isn’t whether you should or shouldn’t relocate.
It’s whether you should hunt down opportunities in distant locations- presuming your current land to be barren ground?
You are Blessed Coming in and Going out
As a believer in Christ, wherever you go and whatever you do, you are blessed (Deuteronomy 28:6). You don’t have to strive and hunt out locations where you can get your handful of blessings. The place where you set your foot is yours (Deuteronomy 11:24).
Isn’t that amazing! What confidence can you bring to any situation when you know that you just couldn’t fail? Every time you choose to be led by the Spirit of God, by that still small voice that prompts you on to the next step, you know there will be no regrets.
Because where the Spirit of God is, there is freedom. (2 Corinthians 3:17)
You don’t have to spend sleepless nights wondering whether you are at the right place. In Him, you are blessed where you are!
Closed Door and Open Windows
We all love the idiom,’ when one door closes, several others open,’ yet we keep banging at the same door- labeling our ‘hard work’ as ‘sacrifice for success.’
My friend, God never called you to bust your back off running in the worldly rat race. You are successful already because you are in Christ and His cross is a finished work!
The day you see Him as your source of all goodness and grace, your eyes will open up to the abundance that has been bestowed upon you, waiting for you to claim it!
If your door has been shut, there are billions of French windows opened up your way!
Be Fruitful in a Barren Land
When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the LORD blessed him.
(Genesis 26:12)
At a time when there was a severe famine in the land, Isaac reaped a hundred-fold because he was blessed where he was! God could have directed him to a fertile land, to begin with, yet growing crops there wouldn’t have been miraculous!
Often, God will lead you to impossible situations from which you can not make out unless He comes to your help. The purpose here is double fold:
- To show His goodness and faithfulness in your life
- To show others that you are blessed because of Him!
You are Blessed to Be a Blessing!
Abba’s kingdom is a land of plenty, and as His children, we seek to establish His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Just like a still pond that grows stale, blessings that are locked away can do no good to humanity.
I wonder how many of us, including me, lost so many of our years waiting for that perfect moment, that perfect place, that perfect person- neglecting what was at hand.
God will let you know when you are supposed to leave your current home, but till then, don’t detest your humble beginnings. For He delights in seeing the work begin. (Zechariah 4:10)
Be it a small wedding at Cana (John 2:11) or saving the entire humanity at the cross, be where you are called to be, and you will be a blessing to entire nations.
For you are blessed where you are, when you are there to do the will of God.
Stay where He calls you, and let His goodness and mercy hunt you down all the days of your life! (Psalm 23:6)
