Scripture for the day: Psalms 119:100
I understand more than the ancients, Because I keep your precepts.
Every machine that you buy comes with a manual. Some read it, some store it away, others just throw them off, relying completely on their “knowledge” to operate the machinery.
Things go good for a while, until one day the machine stops working.
Some run back to get the manual, others scourge through the internet looking for solutions.
And the real smart ones who have read the manual before may have already taken the necessary measures to keep the machine from misfunctioning.
“Read the manual!” My brother would say again and again, every time we bought something new. Infact he would go a step further and read the entire features and functions even before the item came home!
Sany, what does a machine manual have to do with being doers of the Word?
Well, everything!
Living By the Word of God, the Believer’s User Manual
With all the AI and Bots around us, knowledge is easily available, at the click of our fingertips.
But knowledge without action is just puffing up the brain with unused data that will sooner or later become redundant.
All through Psalms 119, the Psalmist stresses on 2 key aspects:
- Meditating on God’s Word
- Keeping His ways
Just knowing the Word isn’t enough, one has to put it into action.
In psychology, we call it neuroplasticity. Every time you choose to do or not do something, your brain sends signals through neural pathways. And depending on the frequency of that action, the pathways get stronger or weaker over time.
The more you do something, the better you become at it and vice versa.
The Bible defines it in much simpler terms. It’s called ” being doers ” of the word and not mere hearers. (James 1:22)
Our Actions Affect Our Anointing
The other day I wrote about the anointing of the Holy Spirit which teaches us all things.
But did you know that the anointing can flow even more or be blocked depending on how much we align ourselves with what the Holy Spirit is leading us to do?
The Holy Spirit is a gentleman. He will never possess us like the demons. He leads us ever so gently and with every step we take in faith, He shows us the next one.
That’s why the Word is a lamp and not a floodlight. The lamp lights only the area right in front of our feet.
We need to take that one step before we can take many more.
For whoever has, to him more will be given , and he will have abundance ; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. (Matthew 13:12)
So How to Become Doers of the Word?
The easiest way to be doers of the word is to be led.
Meditating on the Word, praying in tongues, and being in the fellowship of other believers are some ways to know and follow His leading.
The more you meditate on His Word, the easier it will become to discern His voice for the sheep know the shepherd’s voice.
The more you pray in tongues, the more aligned will your spirit be to His spirit, picking up on the slightest nudges.
The more you choose to be in godly company, the godlier your decisions and lifestyle will be, thus causing the anointing to flow. (Remember Daniel and his friends)
The key is to keep seeking, keep knocking and keep asking- cause when we seek first His kingdom, everything else gets added. (Matthew 6:33)
May we earnestly seek to put His revelations into action and experience good success in all that we do (Joshua 1:8), bringing glory to His name everywhere we go!
In Jesus Name,
Amen!
