Living out the Abundant Life in Christ!

abundant life

Jesus, the good shepherd, came to give us life and life more abundantly. (John 10:10)

He became a curse on the cross so that we may possess the blessings of Abraham, having been made the righteousness of God through His blood. (Galatians 3:13-14)

And yet, as each day passes by, we may feel stuck in a loop that looks anything but progressive.

Today as I meditated on how to live out my inheritance in Yeshua, I discovered 3 steps to bringing His kingdom on earth as in heaven.

Interestingly, each step focuses on a specific facet of our human existence- spirit, soul and body (physical).

Ready to learn more? Here you go:

Step 1- Seek First His Kingdom (The Soul Realm)

seek first the kingdom of God

Seek implies actively searching for something.

When you seek/ search for something- say a job, or medical assistance or a local restaurant, what do you do?

You put up a mental picture of what you are looking for and get on a hunt “searching” for that what will meet your specific requirements.

When it comes to God and His Kingdom, this seeking has to be more than mere “sight-based” and sense-led.

For we walk by faith and not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7)

How difficult would it be, Sany, to “search” without “looking”!

And yet, my friend, nothing could be easier to identify.

For the kingdom of God is peace, joy and righteousness (Romans 14:17) and even little babes are welcome to possess it (Matthew 19:14).

What’s more you don’t need any paperwork or documentation to enter- the Holy Spirit within you is already working out His kingdom outside you.

No matter where you go, His goodness and mercy will follow you (Psalm 23:6) for you are the anointed one, specially equipped for every good work (2 Tim 3:17) that He has prepared for you even before your birth (Psalm 139:16).

The only condition is to “seek”- that is actively and consciously set your minds on the things above (Colossians 3:2), instead of being worn out by the cares and worries of the world.

Reading and meditating on the Word of God is a sure-shot way to keep our minds renewed and washed off the filth that the world has to offer.

The more we meditate on His word, the more it becomes alive and active in our situation, breaking through all strongholds!

kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy

Step 2 Listen to the Still Small Voice (The Spirit Realm)

Once you have set your mind on Him, follow the peace and the voice within.

What voice, Sany?

His voice, His Spirit that bears witness with your spirit, telling you constantly and passionately that you are a child of God. (Romans 8:16)

Abba is constantly speaking to all His children, singing over them with love and delight (Zephaniah 3:17). But like seeds thrown along the roadside or among tares, we have lost the consciousness of being in His presence.

We set aside times and places to listen to God as if He can be limited within the boundaries of our routines and timetables.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom- which implies He can talk to us anywhere, anytime, no WiFi needed!

There is no place where we can hide from Him (Psalms 139:7-12) and yet we can tune Him out with our sensual earplugs that give weightage to the ways of the world over His voice.

Praying in tongues is an awesome way to sensitize and keep yourself stirred up in the spirit. The more you pray in tongues, the more you edify yourself (1 Corinthians 14:4) while simultaneously speaking out mysteries related to your future (1 Corinthians 14:2).

where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom

Step 3- Align Your GPS to His Coordinates (The Physical Realm)

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. (James 1:22)

This verse would always get to me because I would imagine it as apostle James issuing a strict warning against hypocritical braggarts who would boast of their faithfulness to the Lord but fail to perform.

It would condemn me of my own inadequacy and failure to follow through with Abba’s instruction.

Until one day, I had a fresh revelation.

Note the verse right before James’ disclaimer:

Therefore, lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. (James 1:21)

While previously I was counting on my own efforts to please Abba and do His will, this laying aside and receiving with meekness reminded me of someone who exhorted His beloved to “come and rest”.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-29)

Jesus’s invitation to abundant life starts with asking His followers to lay aside, put away and part with all that’s weighing them down.

Self-absorption? Self-loathing? Other people’s expectation? Labels of the world? Throw it out!!!

It’s no wonders Jesus could walk on waters! He must have felt so light! 😅

But jokes apart, He showed us the way to live lightly and freely like the wind. How?

By casting away all anxieties and cares on a loving Father (1 Peter 5:7) who is the giver of all perfect gifts (James 1:17).

And all He asks in return is for us to seek Him first.
